Affiliate Marketing Secret - Build Your Own Mailing List Even If You're An Affiliate
Today, I want to share with you one of the biggest mistakes affiliates make. I want to share this with you so you wont make the same mistake:
The one major mistake many affiliates make is NOT setting up a list!
Affiliates will often send traffic that they generated to affiliate links, rather than a list. When they do this, they are unknowingly making a bet that visitor will buy on first contact. Unfortunately, this is generally not the case.
Visitors often need to be warmed up to a product through the course of multiple visits and additional information before they are willing to purchase from a person or a business. This is where building a list comes into play.
By building a list, affiliates can fix this problem. Additionally, they can retain traffic, warm it up, and then direct it to different purchases in the future. This means that it isn't a one-shot deal: instead, they can attempt to sell the same person multiple products over the course of time.
Now, in order to do this successfully, the affiliate in question must purchase the necessary tools. I personally suggest using a third party for the actual auto responder service.
A third party autoresponder is relatively inexpensive ($20-$40/mo.) and comes with a formidable range of services, including spam checkers and macros. Best of all, it is white listed by many email clients and many boast a delivery rate of 99%.
This type of service will not only manage your list, but it will also help you build it. It includes free tools that allow you to create web forms, pop-ups, and hover-ins all of which can be used to increase your opt-in rate.
Now, in addition to purchasing the auto responder service, you will need to setup your own site if you do not already own one. If you already own a related site, you can simply add your opt in form to a page on your existing site. If not, I suggest purchasing cheap domain and hosting and using this to host your list forms. There are plenty of inexpensive yet high quality hosting companies out online these days so shop around.
Once you have your site and your auto responder setup, there are only two steps left: the first is building a course of some sort that is related to the affiliate products you will sell; and the second is creating an opt-in form that converts.
The first part is relatively easy. Start by determining your topic and then outline it over the course of five to seven days. Remember that everything should be written as if you are talking to a person, rather than as if you were writing a formal article.
If you don't feel comfortable writing these articles yourself, you can always hire a ghostwriter at at a website where freelancers bid for your work like Elance or Guru dot com. You can hire someone for $5-15 per issue, depending on the size.
Once you have created your auto responder series, you will want to feed it into your auto responder, setup advertisements in the text for the affiliate product you are planning to sell, and then create an opt-in form for your list.
Once you have setup your opt-in form, the only remaining step is to drive various traffic sources to your opt-in list, collect their email addresses and then wait for the commissions to roll in!

Understanding Commission-Based Affiliate Programs
If you want to get started earning an income online, or add to an online business you already own, a popular way to do that is to join affiliate programs. The beauty of this is that you don't have to worry about credit card transactions, packaging up your items, or shipping. All you need is a home computer where you can earn commissions from every sale you make after directing a targeted audience to a product, program, or service. This is considered an affiliate program based on commissions. There are other types of affiliate programs, but this is the one I want to focus on in this article.
Not only can you make money with these programs, but it's a fabulous way to add new and fresh content to your website. These days, content is the top way to get traffic to your site and to get noticed by the search engines, so adding not only affiliate programs, but a good description, report, or blurb that pre-sells the item should make your site worth visiting. You can increase your website's traffic quite a bit just by offering products and services that are relevant to your site's content.
Choosing commission-based affiliate programs means that you will earn a percentage of each sale you make by referring others to the product, program, or service. This commission can be, and is usually a set commission like 20%, or it can vary if you choose a program that rewards you additionally for having a lot of traffic for example.
The best way to make use of affiliate programs and earn from them is to pre-sell the item on your site or on a landing page. What I mean by this is that you don't just want to provide a link to a product or service that you hope your visitors will click on and buy something from you. If you hope to make sales the affiliate-program way, then you must test the product yourself, or at least do your research on it. Then you want to provide a valuable report or landing page to your website visitors. This report or landing page will perhaps describe a problem that needs to be solved, then will describe the benefits of the product or service you are recommending, and finally it will move the visitor to take action by purchasing the item as a means to solving their problem. This is the key to getting people to click!
It's also important to keep in mind that building a relationship with your website visitors is of the utmost importance if you expect to make any sales from affiliate programs. You may need to take the time to build a newsletter subscriber list, communicate with them frequently, establish rapport, and build trust. Once you have earned people's trust, they are more likely to return to your site, and respect the opinions and reviews you present to them about the products and services you are recommending.
Commission-based programs sound all good and wonderful until you realize how difficult it is to get people to click and then buy. Even if you've followed every rule in the book, and have a lot of website traffic, you may get very few sales. One reason may be that you are trying to sell too many things in one place. This may just turn people away. Another reason may be that you are trying to make sales in a highly competitive niche. All I can suggest is to narrow your subject matter down as much as possible and focus on a very specific thing that people will find when searching for something very specific. Either that, or combine your commission-based affiliate programs with other types of affiliate programs and other sources of income.

How To Use A Tell A Friend Script To Drive Traffic Today
More and more webmasters have the recurring dilemma on how to increase the flow of traffic in the websites. During the past few years many methods that been developed to solve this predicament. While most of them would work there are those that would not make even a small impact.
One of the methods that have spawned many success stories in driving traffic into websites is viral marketing. Viral marketing makes use of the tendency of a person to share something to find informative, entertaining or amazing.
Many companies bank on this behavior to spread their products and increase the popularity of their company or their website. Viral marketing makes use of many mediums in enticing this behavior. It might be in the form of an interesting story, an addicting flash game, an amusing video and many others that may catch a person's fancy.
This ingenious form of marketing is typically low cost and is a wonderful tool for any company to utilize. The benefit greatly overshadows the cost or efforts to initialize this marketing scheme. Any website would greatly benefit that viral marketing.
Tell A Friend Script
One of the easiest methods in viral marketing is using a tell a friend script. This is a simple programming script that you can attach to the programming of your website. Generally, tell a friends script are installed in pages where a media is placed so that a person can easily send the media to any of his friends or his family members.
The basic concept of a tell a friend script is a script wherein a person may input his name, e-mail address, the recipient's e-mail address and send the media to the intended recipient much like an e-mail with an attachment. As the recipient receives the e-mail he wouldn't think of the mail a spam mail because he would see the sender's name as someone he or she knows and trust.
Tell a friend script eliminates greatly the chances of being blocked because they use the information inputted by the sender. This allows for wider spreading of this marketing method. It can be quite sneaky but it is very effective.
With the e-mail sent and opened the sent media will either be read, viewed or played. Also along with the mail would be a brief description of the company or site that sponsors the media sent. This allows for the introduction of either the site, company name or its products. The along with it is another tell a friend script.
Then the process begins again. As more people use the tell a friend script, more and more people will know of the existence of the sponsoring company or site. People who read the ads inside the mail who liked what they see would go and click on the link and visit the site. This drives traffic into the site resulting to great number of potential customers.
Tell A Friend Script Availability
A tell a friend script is very simple and does not require a complicated method of programming. In fact, you can copy paste a script and simply put it on an intended page. Finding one is even simpler. All you have to do is go to a search engine and type in the search box 'tell a friend script' then press enter or click go.
In the search results page you will see many links that will direct you to a site where you can get a tell a friend script. It would just be a simple matter of looking and searching for the script and copying it to your intended web page.
With a tell a friend script viral marketing strategy you can drive traffic into your site which could potentially spell profits. This is a simple harmless script that offers great benefits for low cost paired with great creativity and foresight.
It is imperative that you have patience in using a tell a friend script. If your chosen media doesn't get the mileage that is expected of it, it may take some time before it gets spread or shared. But surely many people will see your ads and there is great probability that they will visit your site increasing your traffic flow.

Make Associate Programs an Extra Income
Do you have a connection with another site that can offer something new? Then you should know more about an associate program or sometimes called partnership program. This is where the companies selling products or services online gives a part of their profits as a commission on any sales you create for them by introducing new customers.
These have become very popular for both companies who are looking for an increase in sales and websites who have been inadequate in producing some earnings. Whether you have a website that sells a certain product/service or a website that has nothing to sell, you should not stop from joining related associate program for your website, product or service because it can give you additional earnings.
Some companies who offers associate program usually weigh their compensation rates in terms of those sites that send the most clicks and converted actual sales. When somebody reaches an industrial site and make some purchase from the site, you will get a commission for that as a return.
You will greatly benefit when you join any associate programs that are related to your business that definitely would sell other products or businesses to your clients. Indeed, it is really an additional source of gaining cash.
The examples of companies that have affiliate programs are the software retailer Beyond.com and bookseller Amazon.com wherein anyone can have affiliation with these commercial sites and direct people to visit them.
By using the associate program, every one has a chance to add a significant value to any website. And a good quality website can become more valuable and dynamic if it offers a wide variety or different products and services as an associate.
There are also several types of associate programs like the Web Cards. This is an associate program that pays one dollar to affiliates each time a consumer asks for a free sample of their merchandise. The product is actually a postcard of an image or a website. Wherein the user does not need to spend some money yet an affiliate gets a small fee for it.
One should remember that associate programs increase the usefulness of a site only if the commercial site offers the users something valuable. An associate program may affect the accessibility of a site, but it will make it easy and convenient for users, they may visit a site searching for a product or service that it does not offer. However, the site can at least direct the customer to another site that offers that particular product or service. People would definitely like to revisit a site that leads them to a good purchase. That is a very important factor to have a good rapport with the client.
For the success of an associate program, it is necessary to make sure that the content of a site matches the program. Otherwise, the visitors may get irritated. For example, if one has a website on watches, it is better to keep away from giving a link to a pastry shop. It will just give a negative impression to the customers about the products and the company.
When joining an associate program and reselling their products or services, there are critical things that needs to be considered because your customers are also counting on you for the good recommendations that you will make and your reputation will depend on it.
It is really valuable if one would join an associate program because of the benefits that they will get, but if you are serious in joining a program you should first get and try the product or service of the company before recommending it to somebody or to a customer.

Internet Marketing Goal Setting & Time Management Revealed - Be Desciplined
One needs to be extremely desciplined while running an online business.
The scenario of a work from home enterpreneur is absolutely different from one doing a job. It is quite obvious for a home based worker to get destracted with various chores through out the day.
It can be phone calls coming in through out the day, getting distracted around with kids playing in the house, or just sitting back and watching your favourite TV show, or a phone call from a friend inviting you to buzz around, etc.
As you can see, if you don't manage your time in an accurate and efficient manner working from your home, you are surely coming closer to a huge trouble.
The most important thing you need to do is focus on your goal. But before that you need to have a goal written down on a paper that you are shooting for.
The very first thing you need to do is write down your goal in a detailed step by step manner. Your goal is the destination where you have to go.
Now the next thing you need to do is create steps to reach your goal. This is nothing but creating a plan.
Create monthly plans or the tasks that you need to achieve to reach your goal. Break down this monthly plan into weekly plan and finally boil it down into daily plan.
Keep your plan and your goal exactly near your computer so that you can view it often and keeps you focussed on your goal. Read your plan and goal several times a day.
Repetition gets your subconscious mind to grasp things faster and as a result you unconsciously stay focussed on your goal through out the day.
Writing down the plan is not enough. Be desciplined enough to complete your daily plan. Yes action is the key to success. Don't do anything else thoughout the day before you have completed your daily plan, no matter what happens.
If your daily plan is too complicated break it down into chunks. Do one part of your daily plan and gift yourself with a cup of coffee. Do another chunk and then again gift yourself with a break of 15 minutes playing with your kids. Give yourself a reward once you have accomplised a certain task. This is very useful in getting things done faster and easier.
At the end of the day review your goal and ask yourself, what have you done today to accomplish your goal. If you have truely done your daily plan you will get huge satisfaction and also a sound sleep tonight.
Keep thinking about your goal throughout the day and get the feeling that you have already completed the goal. This is an extremely important tactic you have to follow to get your goal manifested as per the law of attraction. The formula goes in this way...
1. Thoughts.
2. Feelings.
3. Actions.
4. Results.
First comes thought. If you think about your goal on a continuous basis as if you have already achieved it, it will result into feelings and high energy, this will result into action, and action will finally give out results.

Different Ways To Drive Traffic to Your Website
An Affiliate Program is a good way to build traffic. With an affiliate program, you will be recruiting affiliates to advertise your product or link. Every time one of your affiliates makes a sale for your site, they get a percentage of the profits.
Affiliate programs are a great ways to get hundreds of people promoting your site for you. ClickBank is probably one of the most widely used affiliate sites out there, so if you want to start an affiliate program for your site, that would be a good starting point.
There is a fee to use ClickBank, however. If you want to try out an affiliate program without paying, there are sites that are free, but you probably would not get as many affiliates as you would with ClickBank.
Now let us take a look at another way to bring visitors to your site by providing them a valuable resource:
Starting a Newsletter Starting a newsletter, ezine, or community can be a fantastic way to bring repeat traffic to your site. So by all means, if you can provide a newsletter once a week, then do so. A newsletter, ezine or even a discussion community builds a loyal subscriber base and brings more traffic from referrals to your site.
You can put a subscription box on your website with some information about your newsletter. Then, all subscribers have to do is enter their email address, which will be sent to your database.
There are a variety of programs out there that can help you start a newsletter, some of them for free. This is a good starting point When your newsletter gets bigger with more subscribers, you can always move to a more advanced newsletter program that costs.
Offering Something for Free Offering your visitors something for free can also be a great way to bring traffic to your site. You could offer a free ebook, for example. If people can obtain something free, they are more likely to visit your site. Not only that, but then you can submit your site to the freebie and free stuff directories out there.
People seeking freebies will then come across your site and visit. Not only that, but your link in the free directories counts as a backlink! If you do end up using this tactic, be sure that your site offers lots of quality content. Your visitors may come for the freebie, but they stay, and return, for the content!
In Closing Bringing traffic to your website is an ongoing process. Offering and Affiliate Program, starting a Newsletters and giving away someting for free are all tried and proven ways to generate traffic.
These steps can be used together to bring the most traffic possible to your site. Building a great site certainly does not happen overnight, so be patient and keep at it. With diligence and attention, you can take your website to a whole new level.

Making Money On The Internet Is Not Easy
What's that you say? You've read in 100 different spots how easy it is to make money on the Internet. Oh yeah, I've read those sites too. Make $1000 a day, you've gotta be kidding. Or how about "quit your job in 30 days". Yep, I even bought into it for a while.
Trust me, it's not as easy as some people would have you believe. I've tried several different approaches and have found some that work, some that don't work and some that I'm not sure about yet. But one thing is clear, the Internet is not going to make you rich quickly, at least not as quickly as you'd like.
Internet promise #1
Make a fortune with affiliate marketing! This one seems simple enough, promote somebody else's product and they will pay you a percentage of what they get paid. An example of this might be web hosting. If you can get somebody to buy web hosting from a provider (like GoDaddy for example) and you are a GoDaddy affiliate, then GoDaddy will pay you a percentage of what that person buys. This seems like an excellent idea, but it's not as easy as it may seem.
First of all, to get somebody to even click on your link to GoDaddy will be a challenge, then after they click it, what is the chance that they will buy. Not likely. If somebody does click on your link it is more likely an early exposure situation (or first exposure). Sure, they see an ad for inexpensive web hosting, they click to check it out. Of course after that they do some research, maybe sleep on it. Then, if they like what they've seen they go back to GoDaddy to buy their web hosting, but not via your link. You do not get credited for the sale (BTW: I'm not picking on GoDaddy here...I like their products and use them...it's just an example).
So, affiliate marketing's main challenge is to get the user in a "buy" state of mind before sending them to the affiliate link. Easily said, not easily done.
Internet promise #2
Make a fortune with Google AdSense. I won't argue that there are people making money using AdSense (or affiliate marketing for that matter), but it isn't easy. Let me qualify that, it isn't easy unless you already have a high traffic web site. If you're just starting out with a new site, or your site doesn't have significant traffic then all AdSense will be paying you is pennies. For example, many of the clicks on my AdSense ads pay 3 to 6 cents. With a click through rate of about 5 percent, you need a lot of traffic to generate a reasonable amount of money.
Why am I telling you this? I know everybody wants to hear that this stuff is easy and they'll be able to quit their jobs and work from home. I'm telling you this because you need to hear it, you need something to cut through all the garbage on the net trying to sell you an easy fix. It is possible to make money, but you're going to need to work at it and it's going to take time.
The next question you are thinking is "what can I do?". The only answer to this question is this, GET TRAFFIC TO YOUR WEB SITE. It's that simple, you need to increase your traffic before even thinking about affiliate marketing or ad programs. The only reliable way I've found to increase traffic is via article marketing! That's the reason that I'm writing this article, to get you to read it, then follow the links in the resource box. When you follow that link, you're on my web site and ready to listen to what I have to say. Hopefully this article will show you that I'm a no nonsense guy and I'm not trying to sell you something you don't need. Don't waste the $1500 I've wasted, read up on this stuff and make informed decisions.

Traffic Building Tips
What good is your website if no one visits? This is the conundrum which most internet marketers face today. Traffic is equivalent to search engine ranking which leads to sales. How, then, can you increase the traffic to your site? Here are some traffic building tips which can assist you in this endeavor.
No doubt, the first time you put up a website and follow all of the rules and implement all the methods available to increase traffic flow, nothing happens. Frustrated by the poor results, you give up trying. That's you're first mistake. There is a plethora of information available at your fingertips, if you just take the time to research all of the different methods used to increase traffic to your website.
Search engine optimization is the key which will unlock the door to your website. Bringing in approximately 80% in traffic to most websites, this is the first stop on your road to traffic building. Once you've unlocked the door, you need to work even harder. Remember, there are millions of marketers competing with you for the same attention by consumers, therefore, be deliberate and focused on the how each search engine uses the meta tags to rank websites. Once you have determined what is working for you and what isn't, tweak your website to implement the most effective meta tags to increase your ranking status.
Write articles for ezinearticles.com. The exposure you will receive is significant, and can further escalate attention to your website. If you have a website that has very strong content and product information, you can then ask other website owners to link to you. This is known as affiliate marketing. Ensure you reach those websites who have the same niche. Write reviews for their products on your site; and you will be surprised how quickly you will qualify as an affiliate.
There is nothing more appealing to a consumer, or to another marketer, than offering free products. In order to increase the traffic to your site, create an e-book and offer it to the consumer. Or perhaps you can offer a free product to another marketer in exchange for his referrals. If you are a writer, offer a free content package geared towards another website's niche. In turn, if the website owner has a list, ask to have your link added. This can be the start of your own mailing list, which you can then use for newsletters; product information; and articles, or whatever you find yields the most traffic.
The methods you utilize may or may not work at first; however, you must explore every avenue until you find the brass ring. Disappointments will arise, but don't let it discourage you from achieving your goals.

Other Ways To Drive Traffic to Your Website
A Look at META Tags Another important aspect of your site that can make a difference in your site are meta tags. There are various types of meta tags, but the ones that are most important are the meta description and meta keywords tags. Let's take a look at the meta description tag, which will look like this:
On most search engines, the words you enter will be what gets displayed on the results page as a description of the site. Whether or not you have a good meta description can make a big difference not only in your search engine ranking, but whether or not seekers decide to visit your site. Your meta description should be descriptive, alluring, and to the point.
Now let's take a look at the meta keywords tag. This tag looks like this:
There are some important things you should know before creating your meta keywords tag. For one, your keywords should never exceed 500 characters. More than 500 characters can lower your ranking or even get you in hot water for spam. You also do not want to repeat the same keywords. Keywords should be separated with commas, and be relevant to the content of your site.
All About Content Now let us talk a bit about site content. It's crucial that your site contains quality content that's not duplicated elsewhere. Search engines are becoming wise to duplicate content, and sites that contain it do not receive good rankings. There are several reasons why duplicate content can occur, and one of them has to do with PLR articles, or Private Label Rights articles. PLR articles are articles that are normally sold in packages, sometimes through a subscription service. The problem with these articles is that so many different webmasters have access to them. If you find yourself using PLR articles to create your site's content, it's crucial that you rewrite the articles to make them unique.
You might have seen those sites that offer free articles for use on your site. This may sound appealing, but it usually does more harm than good, because of the duplicate content issue. Most of the time, you are not allowed to change the content of these articles, making it impossible to avoid having duplicate content. These free article sites do have some benefits, however, which we'll discuss later.
On the topic of content, it cannot be stressed enough that quality content is key to good traffic. Search engines look for sites whose content is unique, of high quality, and added on a regular basis. If you're unable to add pages of content to your site each day, consider hiring a professional writer to do it for you. Good content is truly one of the most important aspects of optimizing your site for search engines and getting the traffic you desire. Plus, visitors are more likely to bookmark your site and return to it regularly if they know that the content is updated often.
You'll want to check your site thoroughly before submitting it to search engines to ensure that you have no broken links, one of the most detrimental factors to a site's ranking and popularity. You'll see on some sites that webmasters have a link where visitors can report broken links if they come across them.
Another important aspect of SEO is having a sitemap. Your sitemap page should be linked from every page of your site. In this sitemap, it should be easy to access the pages of your site. Sites that contain detailed sitemaps are normally seen as more favorable by search engines than those that do not.
When you implement these ideas into your site optimization plan, you will see results over time.

Internet Marketing-Why People Don't Visit Your Site
The reason why most people log onto the Internet is to find out information. In reality the net has evolved in this way as a free and unrestricted medium for the sharing of new information and knowledge. The reason that it has gradually taken on a commercial role is that a few enlightened marketers realised that here was an opportunity to transform the Internet into a worldwide shop window. It is still a tiny percentage of people that actually have it in their mind to buy a product or service when they log on. The vast majority of surfers still use the net solely for acquiring free information.
So based purely on the facts, you need to keep this constantly in mind when
considering or planning the construction of your website and your sales pages. It is not enough to just offer a good product or service and expect instant success in sales.
It is vital that you offer your prospective customers a lot of information, help and even advice and then treat your product or service as an extension of this. The more your site offers your prospective customers a feeling of caring and involvement the more sales you will achieve. It is also vital that your site is kept up to date with original content, which will also attract traffic to your site.
There are literally millions of sites on the Internet and no one knows that your web site exists unless you make a conscious effort to attract people to it.
It is important that you register your site with the main search engines such as Google, Yahoo and MSN. There are literally hundreds of search engines and the best thing to
to do is either get some submission software or engage a specialist company to do it for you. Some offer a free service and others charge a fee.
The search engines that spider your site are constantly looking for relevant keywords and changing content on you site is essential to give you any chance of a decent ranking. Obviously without this you have little chance of attracting visitors.
Another good way to increase you chances of getting a higher ranking with the search engines is to get links with other sites. You could achieve this by creating a directory of other web sites on a particular topic that is related to your target audience.
Contact these sites and ask them to reciprocate by adding your URL on their site. This will not only help with the search engines but you will get extra visitors from these other sites who are interested in what you have to offer.
One of the best methods for getting, what are called, back links to your site is to write articles about your niche, service or product. You need to write a minimum of about seven to eight hundred words and submit them to article directories that will offer them to webmasters for free inclusion in their ezines or newsletters. At the end of your article you will have what is called a resource box where you will write a brief description of who you are and most importantly your web site URL.
Writing articles will not only dramatically increase the number of visitors to your site but just as importantly over a short period of time you will be considered an expert in your niche which will result in people having more trust in you and consequently be more inclined to buy your product or service. The other great advantage is that your site should get better ranking from the search engines because of these links.
If you have a site in a niche market, do your research and check out other sites in your niche. Make sure that the information you are offering is better and more comprehensive than theirs and not available anywhere else. If you don't specialise and offer them valuable tips and advice you will not succeed. There is no substitute for staying focussed and making sure you are on top of your competition.
It is also very important that your site is easy on the eye, not cluttered and simple for your visitor to navigate. It is also a fact that if your home page looks complicated or is hard to instantly understand a visitor will, after as little as five seconds, move on to another site. Make sure this doesn't happen and include an opt-in box in the top half of your home page where your visitor can enter their name and email address in order to subscribe to your newsletter or to receive a free ebook about your niche. In this way you will build up a list of potential customers who you can email to with your new products for years to come.
My intention here is not to discourage you but to get you thinking of how you can quite easily increase traffic to your site. Always try and think from your visitor's perspective and in this way you should overcome most of the obvious problems.

Stop Sabotaging the Sales Experience
As business owners, we all want to have a successful sales experience with our customers. But sometimes we tend to sabotage that effort, because we try too hard to sell (both on our website and in person). Do you recognize yourself in the following scenarios?
*At a networking meeting, you talk too much about your business.
*When you are meeting with a client or prospective client you do all the talking.
*Rather than listening to what customers have to say, you are busy thinking about how you're going to sell them something.
Have a Conversation
Selling is all about communication, and in order to communicate we need to take turns talking and listening. Unfortunately, when some people get in the "sales mode" they forget about the listening aspect of conversation and they do all the talking. In their excitement to sell you on their product or service the conversation becomes a one-way street.
Rather than trying to sell somebody something, take the time to find out a little bit about them and their business. Ask probing questions that give you an idea of what kind of problems or concerns they have regarding their business. Only by asking questions can you discover whether they have a need for your product or service. And try to use the 30/70 rule when you are networking; listen for 70% of the time and talk for 30% of the time.
People appreciate the opportunity to talk about their business and talk about some of the challenges that they might be having in their business. You may not be able to solve the problems for them, but at least you are being courteous enough to listen.
Speak to Your Customer
Some of these same ideas about selling and listening can be applied to the content of a website. It may seem strange to think about a website as a way to converse with your customer, but it's true. A website is actually your best salesperson. If you think of your website as a salesperson, then the content you create for it needs to speak directly to your ideal customer.
Notice that I said "speak" rather than "sell." Don't think of your website as just a sales tool, think of your website as the starting point of a conversation between you and your potential customer. You want every website visitor to feel comfortable navigating throughout your website. Your headlines should ask questions that gently probe for answers. Let them know that you understand the problems or challenges that they are experiencing and that you have a solution to their problems.
Instead of trying to sell something, offer your product or service as a solution to their problems. After all, most people are looking for information when they come to a website. Take the time to give them information that would help them in their buying decision. They may not need your product or service right now, but they certainly could come back later to make a purchase.
Years ago I was driving a car that had very squeaky brakes. I was worried that I couldn't afford the cost of new brakes. Nevertheless, I went to a popular auto repair place, and they put my car up on the hoist and took a look at the brakes. I was ready for bad news, but instead, the mechanic said my brakes were fine. Of course I was delighted with his diagnostic abilities, but I was even more impressed with his honesty. He could have easily had told me that I needed new brakes and I would have believed him. Yet he chose to let me drive away without giving him any money.
Today I realize that not only was he an honest man, but he was also a very smart businessman. I was so impressed that he didn't try to sell me something I didn't need that I told all my friends about this auto mechanic. He may not have made a sale with me that day, but he made many future sales with the people that I sent to him in the months that followed.
Make it your goal to create an honest website that truly listens to your customers. Don't be too concerned about whether you are making a sale whenever anyone visits your website for the first time. Instead, focus on building a relationship with your potential customers and making them feel comfortable doing business with you. You want repeat visits and you want your customers to send their friends to your website.

How Engaging is Your Website?
A successful website is one that encourages interaction with the visitor and becomes the first choice for the customer when shopping online. In order to do this, a website needs to be memorable and create a "stickiness" that makes visitors want to come back again and again.
An online business is more than selling products or services; it's an opportunity to engage customers in a positive experience. Most people who shop online are looking for information as well as products. A website that is filled with information is more likely to make a sale than a website that simply lists a product.
For instance, if your company sells nutritional products, visitors might be interested in reading about the latest information on using homeopathic medicines to treat the common cold or flu. They might also want to read articles on how to prepare more healthy meals.
Articles Database
So, a first step in creating stickiness might be to set up an area on your website for articles of interest to your target audience. If you don't feel up to writing the articles, go to an article directory like ezinearticles.com and use the articles written by other authors. The use of the articles is free as long as you keep the author's box intact. (Please don't plagiarize and put your name in the author's box.)
Keep adding to your articles database as often as possible. You want people to come to your website to find the latest information rather than searching all over the Internet.
Frequently Asked Questions
Another successful technique is to have an area of your website set up with frequently asked questions. Help people to build up their knowledge about your products or service. For instance, a bail bonds site might include information about how the bail bonds process works: what to expect, how much it costs, how to choose a bail bonds agent.
As visitors' questions are answered, they become more comfortable with your business and a relationship is starting to develop. Because you are answering their questions, they are starting to rely on your business as the knowledge expert. This in turn, builds their confidence in wanting to do business with you.
But sometimes people can't find the answers they need in the FAQ section of a website. They have a complicated question or a unique situation that might require a personalized answer. Then you need to consider having someone available to answer questions either through e-mail or phone.
Customer Service Support
How many times have you visited a website and wished you could pick up the phone to talk to someone from that company? Too often, online businesses like to stay invisible and don't offer immediate customer support through the phone. That's a big mistake.
When someone is shopping on the Internet they want immediate solutions. If they had the time to spend, they'd be casually walking through a store, fingering items along the way. Instead, they are online, pressed for time and wanting to get the answers they need right now. If they can't get them at your site, they'll move on to a site that will answer their questions.
Make sure you have a plan in place to handle immediate customer service questions. Even e-mail can be too slow when customers need answers.
One idea is to use a service like LivePerson.com. This software platform is the ideal solution for even small and midsize businesses who want to create a more positive online experience for its customers. The Live Chat feature of LivePerson.com allows visitors to immediately begin a dialog with an online customer service representative and get the help them need with their buying decisions. Customer service representatives can help visitors navigate the site, complete applications, explain product options, and answer support related questions while customers are still on your site.
LivePerson.com works well for a retail site, but it can also be used for a service provider site. Ari Galper's UnlockTheGame.com is a great example of a service provider who is cleverly using this software to increase his sales.
Building Relationships
Think of an online business as another opportunity to build a relationship with your customers and not just a way to make quick sales. A website that features information and customer service is always going to outsell and outperform the competition. Start today to make the changes you need to have a more engaging website.

Building a Targeted Opt In List and Your Online Success
When you ask an online business owner if they think their business is successful, they will often evade the question. The reason being that the online business owner has not yet realized the full potential of marketing on the Internet.
To them, having a website is all it takes to make an online business succeed. They do not realize that there are many aspects of Internet marketing.
When you have a website, it does assist your online business, but only if it is view by the consumer.
There are millions of websites on the Internet, if you do not market your website, to let the public know that your business exists then your site is dormant among millions of other sites.
One way that you can let the consumer know that your site exists is to build an opt in list. This is perhaps the most effective way to get your website noticed. An opt in list is one of the best tools that the Internet has to offer.
An opt in list is considered to be the safest form of email marketing. It is a list of email addresses of people and businesses that have given their permission to allow information whether it is a newsletter or brochure, specific on subjects to be emailed to them.
When you decide to send an email campaign, it is very important that the email list is opt in. Sending an email campaign using a list that is not opt in can ruin a business very fast by giving you the reputation of a spammer. This could not only ruin your business, it can also send you to jail, as spam email is illegal.
When you create your own opt in list, you are building contacts of potential and existing customers that agree to accept your information. This will not only boost your sales, but it will assist you in gaining credibility on the Internet.
An opt in list is perhaps the most important tool that you can have when it comes to an email campaign. This list is so important because it represents all of the time you spent trying to build it. Backing it up on disk is recommended just in case.
There are a few steps that an online business owner should take when they decide to build an opt in email list.
The first step is perhaps the most important. Decide in which industry you want your opt in list to target. This is important because you want to target people who will be interested in your products or services.
When you have chosen a targeted market, do some research to make sure that it available on the Internet. Although there are billions of targeted areas, there are still some that are not on the Internet. You need to be sure that you can promote your business in order to be successful.
When you are building a targeted market it will take a lot of time and effort. You want to make sure that it will be successful however all of your efforts will be wasted if you choose a market that will not generate a lot of income.
It is really not difficult to verify if a niche market is a moneymaker. All you have to do is a little research. You have all the resources of the Internet at your disposal; use them to your advantage.
When you have chosen your niche market and are not sure it will be successful, a good way to find out if there are problems with the market is to create a forum to allow posts from the public. You will receive honest answers from real people that may offer you some type of solution to the problems that are posted.
The success of your online business depends on the accuracy of your opt in list. It will allow you to promote your products or services through email with newsletters brochures or promotions. Making sure that your list is opt in is crucial to the continued success of your business.

While there are ways to jumpstart your traffic flows, many sites don't have the resources that others have to increase web site traffic. Well, you don't have to spend a cent; all you need is the proper mindset and a lot of eagerness. You also must have the drive and perseverance to do hard work and traffic generation research for your site.
How sweet it is to increase traffic for your site without spending a single cent. Now it's a sure thing that many sites have articles that offer tips and guidelines in generating web site traffic using only free methods. Because it is possible, you don't need to spend a single cent, it may take time, to say honestly, I'm not going to beat around the bush with you. You get better chances by paying for your advertisements, but at least you get a fighting chance with some of these free methods I'm about to tell you.
Take advantage of online forums and online communities increase web site traffic. With online communities and forums you can build a reputation for your company. You can target a certain group that fits the certain demographic that you are looking for. Show them what you are made of and wow them with your range of expertise about the subject, with that you can build a reputation and trust with the people in your field.
You can also make use of newsletters to increase your web site traffic. Provide people with a catalog of your products and interesting and entertaining articles. The more people who signs up for your newsletter, the more people there will be that will go to your site.
Another great traffic generating idea is trading links with other sites to increase web site traffic. You don't have to spend a cent. All you have to do is reach an agreement with another webmaster. With exchanging links, the efforts both parties do will benefit both sites. Every traffic that goes to the site could potentially click on the link of your site and visit your site as well. This works well especially when both sites feature the same niche.
Write articles that could pique the attention of people that have interest in your product to increase web site traffic. Try writing articles that will provide tips and guides to other aficionados. Writing articles that provide good service and knowledge to other people would provide the necessary mileage your traffic flow needs.

Include a link or a brief description of your company with the article and there's a great probability that they will go to your site.
Write good content for your site. Many search engines track down the keywords and keyword phrases your site uses and how they are used. It is not a requirement that the content should be done by a professional content writer. You could do your yourself but you have to make content for your site that is entertaining as well as informational. It should provide certain requirements as well as great quality. Generally, internet users use search engines to find what they are looking for. Search engines in return use keyword searching in aiding their search results. With the right keywords, you could get high rankings in search engine results without the costs thus increasing your web site traffic.
All of these methods and more will drive more free traffic to your online business. All it takes is a bit of effort and some hours. Learn all you can about the methods outlined here and you will soon have online business bustling with a great web site traffic flow without the usual costs that come with it.

How To Use Social Networking To Promote Your Business Effectively
Social networking is the process of using social tools and networks, which are widely available to the general public. Some of the most common and widely used social networks are sites such as Myspace, Squidoo, Classmates and Hi5. Some of the most common social tools are blogs, social book marking sites, social search engines and user driven news and content sites. This article describes the many different ways to take advantage of these free resources and use them to generate high quality traffic and leads to build your business.
*SOCIAL NETWORKS*
Social network integration is the process of plugging into the existing online structure of different social networks such as Myspace, Squidoo and Hi5. To effectively integrate into the above mentioned networks you must forget everything you know about marketing and direct sales. These social sites are not marketer friendly; instead they are "friend" friendly, meaning that these sites are built on the concept of "friends" and you, as the marketer must approach the users as such.
Heavy sale pitches and bulletin spamming are not effective methods to advertise and market in Myspace and other similar networks. On the other hand building a great list of friends, which you actually help on a regular basis, will generate a huge amount of interest in you and your business.
Think of these social networks as a huge popularity contest where all people want is to be liked. Why do you think people put their pictures on their profiles and ask users for their comments? It is for the simple reason that they love to get positive feedback because it makes them feel good about themselves. Your job in these social networks as a marketer is to help people feel good about themselves and develop meaningful relationships.
In order to find like-minded individuals to add as friends you should take a look at the thousands of groups that people form. In all of the above-mentioned social networks, there are options to start and join user groups. These groups will have a main theme such as "online marketing," "body building" and many more. These groups are a great resource to find tons of other people who are interested in similar activities. This makes it much easier to develop relationships because you already relate to the other users by having similar interest.
Once you have a loyal group of friends you can them begin effectively using the bulletin system to send out Special Offers and Promotions. The reason the bulleting will work now, is because you now mean something to the other person, they have put your face to your name and are on a first name basis with you, so they are much more willing to open and read your bulletin than some random Joe you are spamming with your offer.
Another great use of groups is to create a joint venture with the owner of the group, as they have already established themselves as an authority and friend to their group members. Offer the group owners a percentage of sales in exchange for their endorsement of your product or offer to their group. This offer will benefit both you and the group owner and ultimately help build your credibility and popularity in the group.
*SOCIAL TOOLS*
-Blogging and RSS Feeds:
Blogs are great social tools because of their informal and personal approach to content. Instead of a visitor reading a formal sales pitch from a sales page, the visitor can read the actual thoughts and see the daily activities of the same marketer who wrote the sales pitch. This helps the marketer relate to the visitor on a more personal level, which in turn creates a sense of trust that ultimately helps to make the sale.
Blogs are responsible for the majority of your return traffic and backend sales. With that being said you should make daily post in your blog to keep your visitors coming back for more. Your post should be short and informative, but not boring and they should be written in your own voice and as informal as possible.
-Social Bookmarking:
Social Bookmarking is a new phenomenon to hit the Internet and it is catching on very fast. Social Bookmarking sites are places where users can save and label (tag) their favorite websites. Some examples of Social Bookmarking websites are Del.icio.us, Furl, and Technoratti. These sites are great because the user can access these bookmarks from any computer with an Internet connection instead of having to be at a particular computer where their favorites are saved. These sites also allow users to share their book marked sites with one another, which gets the bookmarked sites extra traffic.
Recently it was released that Google's algorithm gives points to websites, which are socialized into these social bookmarking websites. This means hat the more occurrences of your website in these bookmarking engines the better ranking you get in Google. A quick way increase your website's rank, is by signing up for a lot of these sites and bookmarking your website. I recommend onlyweb.com because it has 20 of the most popular bundled into one so you only have to bookmark your websites once and it is updated in over 20 social bookmarking sites. You can also subscribe to groups such as the Social Bookmarking yahoo group in which all of the users help each other out by bookmarking each other's websites.
-Social Search Engines:
Social Search engines are user driven search engines in which users vote on the most relevant content. These have not become main stream, but you can bet that in the near future they will be. You can see that Google has already integrated some aspects of a user based voting system when you take a closer look at the Google toolbar. If activated, the users have access to a voting interface where they can vote positively or negatively on any website they land on. As of now this voting system does not hold too much weight in the algorithm, but you can bet that it will very soon. For a quick rank helper, install the Google toolbar and vote positively for each and every web page of your website.
-User Driven Content:
User driven content is another new phenomenon in which users can vote or digg on their favorite articles, news stories, videos and blogs. This Digg system can best be seen on Digg.com where the most popular stories will stay at the top where they will get a good amount of free publicity. This free publicity and digg voting system also tends to get the story indexed much higher in Google and other search engines. This user driven content site can be used to get your newly written articles voted to a popular level where they will get free publicity and ultimately bring free traffic to your website.
Social networking will be an integral part of the internet and it is up to you to either get on board or watch the wave pass you by. Don't wait, start your social networking campaign today, signup and start developing your profiles and making friends. Spend at least one day a week advancing your network of friends and using the tools to promote your business.

Old Fashioned Website Traffic Building
There are thousands of forums on the internet. Join all that you can, your forum signature will play an important roll in these forums. Use boardtracker to help monitor the responses you've had so you can stay active in each one. Use the forums email feature to receive notification of responses in your original introduction thread. Think about your "target audience", who are they are what topics are they interested in.
Email Signatures
If you are like me, you probably send numerous emails out daily. Make sure you are using them effectively. Now that you have your signature in your email, you can find ways to become more social. Browsing a site you like, email the owner and tell them or ask them a question. Use your email at every opportunity for more exposure.
Yahoo Groups
Sign up for as many as you can keep up with. Set up a special email account at gmail for this. You want the ones that will allow you to have a small signature file. There are also other "groups" out there like MSN, MySpace, etc..
Guest Books
Set up a guest book on your site. Do a google search for "sign guest book" and/or other variations of that. Visit sites and make a positive comment about their site, leaving a link to your site and ask others to sign your guest book. A little htaccess can force everyone to have to reach your guest book through your main page which means that if someone else does what you are doing, they will be redirected to your main page and have to actually click a link from there to reach it. More about that later.
5. Blog Comments
The first thing we do is a google search for "blog software". We can find several like wordpress. We can then do a search for "powered by wordpress" and get a nice list of sites. Start visiting and leaving comments with a link back to your site. Most use the nofollow tag so don't expect for these links to be indexed by the search engines, what we are doing here is looking for actual blog readers to see your comment and click through to your site. To narrow down the field so we're using our time more efficiently we could refine our search to something like "home business blog" or even "making money" + "powered by wordpress". This doesn't even have to be "making money" or "home biz" related, again think about what your "target audience" may be reading. Note: I'm not endorsing blog spamming! Actually visiting blogs, reading the posts and making relevant comments benefit both parties. The blog owner gets free content for his site and you get a link back to your site.
Outgoing Snail Mail
Chance are, unless you've completely moved into the new millennium and are paying everything online that you still write out the occasional check. Stamp or write your url in the memo section of all checks, on the remit portion of your bill and the outside of your envelopes. These instruments pass through many hands and every exposure of your url is one more you didn't have before. I would recommend using a rubber stamp, if you are doing enough, it will be worth it and will save you from hand cramps.
Dropping Business Cards
It is your business that is online but it is you that is in business. You are not restricted to only online advertising. Do you go out to eat? Leave your business card on the table with your tip. Fast food place? Doesn't matter, leave your card on a few tables for the next few patrons. Many restraints even have a board where they allow cards to be pinned. Browsing the "making money" section of your local bookstore? Business cards make excellent bookmarks! Have a t-shirt printed with "Make Money Online" and your url on the front and back. Wear this every time you leave the house. You will be a walking business card and can be a conversation starter. Being bashful won't make you any money.
Hanging Flyers
I like to use flyers with the "pull off tabs" at the bottom which you just cut yourself so people don't walk off with your whole flyer. Think of any public place that has a bulletin board. Laundry rooms, public and apartments, community college, employment office, etc.. Always carry these and the business cards with you, you never know when the opportunity will present itself.
Add Content To Your Site
The search engines love content and every page you create adds another doorway into your site. Try to write at least one or two pages of content daily. These can be just a few paragraphs long and can be about anything you like, pets, children, the working at home experience, etc.. Two of these page a day is about 60 pages a month and 120 pages a year. Make sure you use a template for this with your sites navigation and google adwords framing it on the top, left column and underneath. Search for high paying keywords and write around those subjects if possible to maximize your adsense revenue.

Don't Fear the F-Word!
As a business owner, when you hear the word "Free" what do you think of?
As a customer, when you hear the word "Free" you might feel skeptical about the offer, as in, "What's wrong with it?" As a business owner, you might see "Free" as a true four-letter F-word. Something that takes up your time and resources, and ends up simply losing you money.
One or both of those feelings could be 100% correct, but that doesn't mean that when you're looking to work with something that's "Free" that you have to keep that trend. Why not make "Free" fantastic?
Customers are a fickle bunch. Give too much, and all that's expected is what's free. Give too little, and you're just a mysterious shut-in. Offer consistency and quality on a regular basis and striking a balance between showing people who you are, and offering stellar products or services is where success really makes it's home. Free information is the perfect way to do that.
Picture yourself as a customer visiting a website. You see some information about a product, but nowhere can you find how it works, what it does, or even the price. You might see testimonials saying it's an amazing product and it "worked for me," but nothing of actual substance. So you sign up for their newsletter to try and obtain further information but it's all more of the same. Cryptic, mysterious, but oh boy it works for everyone else even though it's apparently an unexplained phenomenon!
That's not a good way to win a long-life, loyal customer. That's how you sell things quickly, by cranking up the mystery and hoping for an impulse buy. Maybe the business is simply distrustful of competition. If you don't trust your competition, the worst mistake you can make is not trusting your customers either, no matter how hard you're trying to protect something.
Instead of being cryptic and holding back information, how about giving information away? Giving it for free? If you run a fishing store and you sell fishing poles and bait, when someone asks you for good fishing spots do you say, "Oh the fishing around here is amazing! Everybody catches gigantic fish!"
No. You tell them how to get to a great little spot only the locals know about and recommend the right fishing pole and bait to use for that lake. That's building a relationship with your customer. Offering information free of charge and offering solutions as well. The concept is no different in the online world.
Newsletters would be immensely boring if they didn't offer any information of value. Offering quality information in exchange for nothing is just like telling your customers, "I trust you, and I want to see you happy." There's no better message to send and your customers will consistently come back to you because of that philosophy.
When I was just starting out developing VMT for clients, I would receive many questions like, "How am I going to make any money if I give away my tips and advice for free?" My response has always been, "How do you expect to make any money if all you show your customers is distrust?" Don't give away the gold your business is built around, but definitely give your potential clients value in exchange for nothing. That's how you build trust, turn yourself into someone's favorite resource, become a recognized expert, and develop long-lasting relationships that will sustain you and your business for years to come!
